About Us

Magic Moments Childcare Ltd was established in 2005 by Richard and Laura Barrett and their two daughters Sarah and Siobhan, who are both nursery nurses. The children's day nursery in Barnt Green is the first venture under this banner.

Richard spent 30 years working for BT, starting as an apprentice straight from school in 1970 and working through the ranks to become a senior manager at Regional Board level. Leaving BT in 2000 Richard started Wicked Wheels Midlands Ltd, a vehicle detailing company offering top quality alloy wheel refurbishment to the premium end of the market, and the company is trading successfully today.

Richard also spent 13 years as a non-executive director of P&T Classic Hotels, being responsible for marketing and quality management, and is a National Executive Council member of the Federation of Post Office & BT Pensioners, which is the largest national occupational pensioners group in the UK representing over 100,000 occupational pensioners. Richard is also Secretary of his local pensioner branch in Evesham and has been a school governor at two local schools.

Richard likes a challenge and has run the London Marathon 8 times and the New York Marathon as well.

Laura worked in various administrative roles before starting a family and staying at home to look after three children. She has a recent background in the Care Sector and is Company Secretary for Wicked Wheels Midlands Ltd and Magic Moments Childcare Ltd.

Laura likes to be "one of the girls" and has absolutely no problem in rolling up her sleeves in order to change nappies or clean the children's toilets.
